Lajos Weisz House, also known as The House with Lions due to the two feline figures on the pediment of the building, is located on the north-western corner of Unirii (The Union) Square. The edifice stands out for its unmistakable silhouette generated by the round bay window on the corner, and the richly decorated pediment with heraldic symbols. Among these is a shield bearing the initial of the family Weisz, supported by two griffins.
Weisz Lajos, one of the sons of the wholesaler Sándor Weisz (who, in 1871, owned a simpler house on the same location and ran Sándor Weisz and Sons from it), carried out an intervention on the building in 1906, dressing it in a manner typical of the beginning of the 20th century in Timișoara. The stylistic evolution of the building is also interesting in relation to the square: from the initial Baroque image of the 18th century, to a Neoclassical image in the second half of the same century, and finally, to the current image at the beginning of the 20th century.
