In 1926, in the building located on Văcărescu Street (formerly Bem Street) operated the Cinema and Summer Garden “Royal,” later renamed ‘Art.’

The place was one of the most popular meeting spots, attracting people from all the neighbourhoods of Timișoara.

The building is remarkable because of the bay window above the entrance, on which we find the monogram “W,” a reference to the initial of the owner Ludwig (Lajos) Weisz.

In 1946, the owner of the building was Ana Weiss, the widow of Ludwig (Lajos) Weisz, who carried out restoration works under the guidance of Anton Schmeltzer.
