In close proximity to the Roman-Catholic Dome in Unirii Square, there is a two-story house that bears an extremely elaborate façade. The house was built in 1902 and is one of the earliest examples of Secession architecture in Timișoara. Eduard Reiter’s decorative repertoire is replete with lion heads or demonic mascarons used as capitels for the façade’s pilasters, decorative corbels, egg-and-dart molding, or floral ornaments, all done in the same Secession style. The connection between the architect and the building is not coincidental, with Reiter being the official architect of the Roman-Catholic Diocese, a post that led him to design numerous churches across the historical Banat region.
