Mór (Moritz) Lőwy Apartment Building
Lőwy Mór House, built in historicist/eclectic style, is, in terms of volume, the most imposing building on 3 August 1919 Boulevard.
An interesting detail of the building is that, right next to the entrance gate (on the left), the old street name and number plate, from over 100 years ago, is still present - Andrássy ut. 10 (10 Andrássy Street).
According to a German commercial address book from 1867-1881 Pesta, Lőwy Mór is listed as a wholesale textile merchant. In her book "In the Footsteps of the Jewish Timișoara. More than a Guide" (2019), Getta Neumann mentions that Mór (Moritz) Lőwy was probably the same person with the first rabbi and historian Mór (Moritz) Lőwy, who used to officiate in the synagogue of Cetate neighbourhood, and occassionally in the synagogues of Fabric and Iosefin.
