The house was built in 1935 and is one of the most distinguished examples of interbelic architecture in Timişoara, corresponding to the ‘cubist’ current. The building’s architect, Albert Krausz, is considered the architect of interbelic Timişoara, because a lot of the city’s properties in those times bear his signature.

Prior to the construction of the current building, there was another building with a ground floor only, where the Szimberger & Baumwinkler Manufactory, Textile and Haberdashery functioned.

According to Geta Neumann's book, "On the Footsteps of the Jewish Timișoara. More than a Guide" (2019), the owner of this building was Dr. Samuel Kohn, who in the 1950s handed over his office to his son, pediatric doctor Emanuel Kohn. Among the tenants was the Wilkovits-Sarolta family, survivors of the Auschwitz camp. For several years, starting in 1956, Gheorghe Wilkovits was the president of the Jewish Community.

Unfortunately, Dr. Samuel Kohn House in Fabric is currently in an advanced state of decay.
