Mühle House

Approximately on the site of the current building, there was, since the second half of the nineteenth century, the first house of the family, built by Wilhelm (Vilmos) Mühle. One year after his father's death in 1909, Árpád obtained a building permit for a house with a garden, a building that can still be seen today.

According to research conducted by architect Mihai Opriș, Mühle House (also called Árpád Mühle Villa) was the work of architect Oskar Reinhart, and the builder was Josef Hofgärtner from Timișoara -- this information is a premiere for those who study or are passionate about the city's historical architecture . Oskar Reinhart (March 8, 1882 - February 5, 1954) was an independent architect and builder from Vienna, and his biography, available on the Lexicon of Architects, indicates that he was related to the famous family of florists in Timisoara, his mother's maiden name. being Anna Mühle.

The Mühle House is notable for its free location within the plot, surrounded by vegetation, a rare arrangement in the urban fabric of the Elisabetin district. The landscaping of the garden, as well as the rare species of trees planted added value to the entire space. Today, the building is in an advanced state of degradation, the subject being an open wound of the local community of Timisoara.

Under the imagination of Andrei Puică, the house regains once more the integrity of its volumes, and launches, perhaps for the last time, a cry for help in the hope of salvaging itself and the cultural heritage that the Mühle family has left for Timișoara. The Mühle family also owned a building in the Cetate district, known to this day as the The House with Flowers, due to the fact that it was Mühle family's flower, seed and flower shop, as well as the central point where they exhibited and sold their products developed in the their gardens located in Elisabeth neighborhood. In 2020, out of the desire to highlight and celebrate the history of Mühle family, the Heritage of Timisoara team organized a temporary exhibition, where visitors were able to admire original documents, reproductions and current photographs of the legacy that the Mühle family left to the city.
